Abstract generation in progress

Samsung Electronics has brought forward the start-up timeline for its first production line at its Korean Yongin semiconductor factory from 2030–2031 to 2029. This adjustment aligns with the South Korean government’s policy direction to accelerate the development of the Yongin National Industrial Park. If the first wafer fab is put into operation as scheduled, it will not only help Samsung respond more quickly to the surge in demand for AI chips, but will also speed up the formation of a semiconductor materials, components, and equipment industrial ecosystem in South Korea. Samsung Electronics has previously announced that it will invest a total of 2030 trillion won in places including Pyeongtaek and the Yongin semiconductor cluster.
