According to Bali Discovery, a 41-year-old Russian man reported to Bali police that on the evening of July 2, in South Kuta Pecatu, he was kidnapped by multiple people, held captive for about 30 hours, and during that time was beaten and forced to hand over the passwords to his cryptocurrency asset accounts. The report said the kidnappers also took his phone and the keys to his rented house, and entered his residence to steal another phone so they could access the victim’s cryptocurrency asset accounts. The victim was abandoned in the early hours of July 4 near Udayana University Hospital in Jimbaran and received treatment. Bali police said they are tracking the vehicles involved, CCTV footage, and the mobile phone’s electronic trail, and have not yet disclosed the amount of cryptocurrency account losses.
