According to Bali Discovery, a 41-year-old Russian man reported to Bali police that on the night of July 2, in South Kuta Pecatu, he was kidnapped by multiple people, held captive for about 30 hours, and during that time was beaten and forced to hand over the passwords to his crypto asset account. The report said the kidnappers also took his phone and the keys to his rented house, and entered his residence to take another phone so they could access the victim’s crypto asset account. The victim was discarded in the early hours of July 4 near Jimbaran’s Udayana University Hospital and received treatment. Bali police said they are tracking the vehicles involved, CCTV footage, and the phone’s electronic footprints, and have not yet disclosed the amount of loss from the crypto account.

Police are still investigating the vehicle and phone trail, hoping to catch the people involved as soon as possible. Has this kind of kidnapping targeting the crypto community been increasing recently?

Is Bali so dangerous now? If you really want to travel in Southeast Asia, be extra careful.
