Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 21 (reporter Xie Yiyao). The reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce on the 21st that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the national consumer market operated smoothly, with ample supplies of daily necessities and stable prices.

According to business data from the Ministry of Commerce, as of June 20, 2026 consumer goods “trade-in for replacement” policies benefited 136 million person-times, driving sales of more than 1 trillion yuan. Among them, sales of automobiles under the trade-in program reached 10k units, driving sales of 555.24 billion yuan; sales of home appliances under the trade-in program, as well as “new for upgraded” products in digital and smart categories, totaled 3.43M units, driving sales of 451.63 billion yuan. From June 19 to 20, the foot traffic and sales revenue of 78 pedestrian streets (business districts)重点 monitored by the Ministry of Commerce grew by 4.0% and 3.5%, respectively, year over year.

Local markets for daily necessities had sufficient supply, with overall stable prices. Data from the Ministry of Commerce shows that during the holiday period, 200 large agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets nationwide had adequate inventories. Grain and oil, meat, and fruit prices were basically the same as before the holiday (June 18), while egg and vegetable prices fell by 0.7% and 0.3%, respectively.
