$BTC BREAKING: Apple is suing OpenAI and hardware chief Tang Tan, alleging the theft of trade secrets to build its consumer AI devices.

The lawsuit says Tan directed candidates still working at Apple to bring “actual components” to interviews, and notes that more than 400 former Apple employees are now working at OpenAI.
Apple’s filings on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California also include engineers Chang Liu and io Products. Apple is seeking a restraining order and damages, saying its February letter to OpenAI received no response, and that OpenAI has not commented.
The two companies remain partners, with ChatGPT integrated into Apple Intelligence since 2024, and OpenAI’s first device scheduled for the first half of this year.
The filing says OpenAI’s hardware business is “rotten to the core due to unlawful reliance on misappropriated trade secrets.”$OPENAI
