Galaxy research director: Bitcoin Policy Institute applies to intervene in the abandoned Bitcoin case, seeking to have the court dismiss all lawsuits
BlockBeats report, July 11—Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy, said in a social media post that the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has officially filed a motion to intervene in the highly watched “Noah Doe (Noah Doe)” case and will participate in the litigation as a defendant. BPI said its application is made based on relevant provisions of New York State’s Civil Practice Law and Rules, and that it had not previously made a similar application to any court regarding this matter.
According to the filed documents, in its proposed answer brief, BPI fully denies the main allegations in the plaintiff’s complaint, only acknowledging the plaintiff’s attempt to seek a declaratory judgment through this case. For other claims, BPI either denies them or says it lacks sufficient information to form a judgment. BPI also introduced that the organization was founded in 2021, is a nonpartisan, nonprofit entity headquartered in Washington, D.C., in the United States, and focuses on researching the policy and social impacts of Bitcoin and emerging currency network systems. It conducts research independently and is not influenced by industry participants such as cryptocurrency companies or trading platforms.
The case has drawn significant market attention because it involves an anonymous person’s alleged attempt to obtain large Bitcoin ownership believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto through legal procedures. With BPI applying to intervene as a defendant, the institution said it will oppose the plaintiff’s related requests and push the court to dismiss the entire lawsuit.
