Gate responds to recent security incidents: It always stands on the side of users, will fully cooperate with the police and third-party institutions, and will do everything possible to help users recover their funds.

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Gate issued a statement regarding recent customer funds incidents, saying that in the initial stage of the incident, its communication with users was not appropriate enough and it did not put users’ feelings first in a timely manner. Gate’s initial assessment was entirely based on facts: the applicant provided a highly matched set of materials including the account email, phone number, real-name information, complete transaction records, and real and valid Alipay transaction screenshots. These details were highly accurate, and the applicant passed live verification.

After email and SMS notifications were sent, the user raised no objection while a 2-day review protection period was followed by an additional 24-hour withdrawal protection period. In addition, the applicant IP and the account’s recent access IP were located in the same region. Based on cross-validation of multiple pieces of information, Gate made its suspicion-based judgment at the time.

Although early communication was improper, Gate’s support for users has never stopped. Immediately after the incident, it set up a special task force composed of security, compliance, legal, and business teams to establish a dedicated handling group with users. So far, it has completed incident reconstruction, device security analysis, and real-time tracking of the funds chain, and has assisted the user in reporting to the police, filing a case, and providing complete materials.

Meanwhile, Gate has contacted a professional legal team and mobilized business resources to actively communicate with Tether and relevant exchanges, seeking the freeze of the involved funds.

On the security mechanisms, Gate reiterates: Gate always adheres to a multi-layered protection system, including multi-channel advance notifications, system risk-control preliminary screening, manual four-eyes review, and strict time-based protections. Live verification is only an auxiliary means and not the sole basis. The 10.x internal network IP appearing in the logs was used by the reviewers for normal operations.

In addition, after strict investigation, Gate said that this incident involves neither a platform data leak nor any misconduct by a resigned employee. Some sensitive information provided by the applicant was not previously obtained by the platform. Security has no endpoint. Gate will seriously review this incident and continuously optimize its processes. Regardless of the final investigation outcome, Gate will fully cooperate with the police and third-party institutions and do everything possible to help users recover their funds.
