England has overall stronger strength, and I’m backing them to eliminate Norway 2:1.
The World Cup quarterfinal brings a European showdown, with Norway taking on England. This is not only a direct matchup between two elite strikers—Haaland and Kane—but also a battle between two midfield core players, Ødegaard and Bellingham. Judging by the overall squad, I’m more confident that England will emerge victorious.
Norway’s biggest surprise in this World Cup has been knocking out strong opponents in succession. Especially after defeating Brazil, their momentum has reached its peak. The team’s style is mature, with extremely high counterattacking efficiency. Haaland’s physical duels, speed, and finishing ability in front of goal can unsettle any back line. Meanwhile, Ødegaard’s organization and coordination serves as the engine for the team’s counters; the connection between the two determines Norway’s ceiling in attack.
However, England’s biggest advantage lies in a more balanced overall configuration. From goalkeeper to defenders, and from midfield to the front line, almost every position features world-class players. Kane can not only score but also drop back to organize; Bellingham is strong both in attack and defense; and Saka and Foden on the wings have exceptional breakthrough ability. Even the bench includes players who can change the course of a match. Ahead of the game, England’s main lineup remains healthy aside from a couple of players suspended, further boosting their competitiveness.
The match tempo is expected to be not too fast, with both sides being very cautious. Norway will rely more on quick counters to find Haaland, while England will use possession to suppress the opponent, continually creating chances through the flanks.
Prediction: Haaland will still manage to score, but England’s overall chance creation is stronger. At key moments, Kane and Bellingham are likely to determine the direction of the game.
Prediction result: England defeat Norway 2:1.
Predicted total goals: 3.
