Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing: Multiple fake websites use virtual wallets to carry out scams

Odaily Planet Daily News reports that Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited has issued an announcement stating that recently it discovered multiple counterfeit websites using the name “Buyer Online Security Protection” to lure users into submitting personal information such as their identity card number, identity card photo, and phone number for so-called “real-name verification,” and offering cash rewards as an incentive to conduct deposit and withdrawal operations via so-called virtual wallets. Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited calls on the public to be vigilant against suspicious calls, websites, or other communications; if they suspect they have been scammed, they should report to the police as soon as possible.
