North Korea’s Foreign Ministry: NATO intends to orchestrate a bloc confrontation

According to a report from China’s Coin World news outlet on October 11, a spokesperson for the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that day that, recently, the United States and its followers, during the NATO summit, exposed intentions to stage confrontation, undermine the European security environment, and create instability in the Asia-Pacific region. The spokesperson said that, during the NATO summit, U.S.-led NATO member countries and their partners publicly encouraged confrontational actions, proving that NATO is a “war confrontation organization” seeking exclusive geopolitical interests and acting against international peace on a global scale. The spokesperson also said that NATO should have disappeared with the end of the Cold War, but in order to maintain and strengthen its legitimacy, it recklessly expanded eastward, systematically destroyed the European security environment, shifted responsibility to other countries, and created instability in the Asia-Pacific region. These provocations must in no way be tolerated. The spokesperson emphasized that North Korea will accelerate the buildup of its capabilities to prevent attempts at confrontation and military threats, and to safeguard national sovereignty, security interests, and peace and stability in the region.
