Be more careful.

First, when dealing with people, keep at least 20% mystery. Once they figure you out, that’s often the beginning of them taking advantage of you.
Second, if someone keeps making things difficult for you, you can flip on them directly. Because their real intention is to believe you’re not worth it, and that’s why they act that way.
Third, if you’re going to give someone benefits, do it gradually—don’t go all in at once. You’re testing them, and they’re also testing you.
Fourth, before things are actually done, don’t loudly announce them to the whole world. If it succeeds, it will attract others’ jealousy; if it fails, it will become someone else’s dinner-table topic.
Fifth, you should keep at least 30% of your enthusiasm for yourself. People who give everything away without reserve often lose the worst. The premise of being good to others is to be good to yourself first.
