On July 3, according to a report by Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that the Strait of Hormuz should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman. Qalibaf made this remark during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi. While discussing the management of the Strait of Hormuz, Qalibaf pointed out that a recent memorandum of understanding signed with the United States stipulates that the Strait should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman. He indicated that Iran is seeking the opinions of Gulf coastal countries, including Iraq, on this matter. (Xinhua News Agency)
