China Mid-term Association: In the first half of the year, the national futures market’s cumulative trading volume and trading value increased by 25.23% and 42.08% year-on-year, respectively.
The latest statistical data from the China Futures Association shows that, on a one-way basis, in June the national futures market trading volume was 939,261,565 contracts (939,261,565 contracts), and trading value was 806.25 trillion yuan (939M yuan). Year-on-year, trading volume and trading value increased by 27% and 52.72%, respectively. From January to June, the national futures market cumulative trading volume was 5,104,871,182 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 4,827.01 trillion yuan (806.2k yuan). Year-on-year, they increased by 25.23% and 42.08%, respectively.
Among them, based on trading value, the top three commodity futures varieties by each exchange are: on the SGX (Shanghai Futures Exchange) silver futures, gold futures, and tin futures; on the CZCE (Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange) PTA futures, methanol futures, and rapeseed oil futures; on the DCE (Dalian Commodity Exchange) coking coal futures, egg futures, and palm oil futures; on the GFE (Guangzhou Futures Exchange) lithium carbonate futures, polysilicon futures, and industrial silicon futures. Based on trading volume, the top three varieties by each exchange are: on the SGX silver futures, petroleum asphalt futures, and rebar futures; on the CZCE methanol futures, glass futures, and PTA futures; on the DCE egg futures, coking coal futures, and soybean meal futures; on the GFE lithium carbonate options, lithium carbonate futures, and industrial silicon futures.
The financial futures and options trading volume on the CFFEX (China Financial Futures Exchange) was 5.11B contracts, accounting for 3.48% of the national market; trading value was 29.66 trillion yuan, accounting for 36.79% of the national market. The top three varieties by trading amount were CSI 1000 Index futures, CSI 500 Index futures, and CSI 300 Index futures.
By the end of June 2026, China had listed 167 futures and options varieties.
In June, the trading volume on the Shanghai Futures Exchange was 191,130,154 contracts, and trading value was 4.83M yuan, accounting for 20.35% and 30.76% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they increased by 6.94% and 45.4%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the Shanghai Futures Exchange was 11,277,610 contracts, up 5.89% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the Shanghai Futures Exchange cumulative trading volume was 1,297,903,543 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 32.65M yuan, with year-on-year increases of 17.89% and 64.42%, respectively; they accounted for 25.42% and 39.3% of the national market, respectively.
In June, the trading volume on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange was 10,296,315 contracts, and trading value was 16,949.13 billion yuan, accounting for 1.1% and 2.1% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they decreased by 42.57% and 57.87%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange was 462,742 contracts, up 3.73% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the cumulative trading volume on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange was 69,813,404 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 142,089.48 billion yuan, with year-on-year decreases of 20.71% and 17.13%, respectively; they accounted for 1.37% and 2.94% of the national market, respectively.
In June, the trading volume on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange was 321,797,449 contracts, and trading value was 94,190.24 billion yuan, accounting for 34.26% and 11.68% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they increased by 20.99% and 32.39%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange was 19,224,987 contracts, up 15.9% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the cumulative trading volume on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange was 1,717,330,172 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 506,701.62 billion yuan, with year-on-year increases of 24.05% and 20.81%, respectively; they accounted for 33.64% and 10.5% of the national market, respectively.
In June, the trading volume on the Dalian Commodity Exchange was 350,747,713 contracts, and trading value was 296.6k yuan, accounting for 37.34% and 16.55% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they increased by 62.75% and 66.48%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the Dalian Commodity Exchange was 22,415,882 contracts, up 4.82% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the cumulative trading volume on the Dalian Commodity Exchange was 1,675,365,840 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 24.8T yuan, with year-on-year increases of 35.8% and 42.21%, respectively; they accounted for 32.82% and 13.81% of the national market, respectively.
In June, the trading volume on the CFFEX was 32,652,691 contracts, and trading value was 296,581.33 billion yuan, accounting for 3.48% and 36.79% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they increased by 77.66% and 98.58%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the CFFEX was 2,646,003 contracts, down 2.09% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the cumulative trading volume on the CFFEX was 164,283,886 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 1.69T yuan, with year-on-year increases of 20.92% and 32.78%, respectively; they accounted for 3.22% and 30.96% of the national market, respectively.
In June, the trading volume on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange was 32,637,243 contracts, and trading value was 17,134.23 billion yuan, accounting for 3.47% and 2.13% of the national market, respectively; year-on-year, they decreased by 24.2% and increased by 3.7%, respectively. At the end of June, the total open interest on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange was 1,931,915 contracts, up 1.45% from the end of the previous month. From January to June, the cumulative trading volume on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange was 180,174,337 contracts, and cumulative trading value was 119,929.49 billion yuan, with year-on-year increases of 34.94% and 106.06%, respectively; they accounted for 3.53% and 2.48% of the national market, respectively.
