Crypto news site CoinJie Network reported that Coinbase engineer Brock Miller said in a post that after working at Coinbase for eight years, he left last month and has now joined the AI company Anthropic as a member of the technical team, helping to drive the development of cutting-edge AI technologies. Miller said that over the past 12 months, he has personally seen his software engineering work change dramatically due to AI, and believes this shift is still at a very early stage. He also said that he remains optimistic about Coinbase and the broader crypto industry, and will continue to follow its developments in the future.

From exchanges to Claude—quite a big leap. But he’s right: the pace at which AI coding abilities are advancing is too exaggerated. If you don’t pivot now, in two years you might not even have a chance for an interview.

Miller’s move is interesting—staying in the Crypto circle, but his body is advancing into AI. Presumably, there will be plenty of cross-over AI+Web3 projects that will look for him next.

An eight-year Coinbase veteran has switched to AI—this signal is clear enough. The engineering itself is being rebuilt; it’s better to embrace it early than to stubbornly resist.
