Oh wow—there’s a Korean guy who owes Anthropic $16.62 million 😂
A Korean guy—this week, he received crazy payment-chasing emails from Anthropic’s official Stripe billing system.
July 7: He received the first letter, saying he owed $1.67M, and the charge failed.
July 8: The second letter hit, and the amount directly jumped tenfold to $16,627,739.70 (about 25.1 billion won).
The guy was stunned on the spot. He went back to check his account dashboard—his API usage clearly showed a perfect “zero.”
He thought it was the usual Stripe phishing email at first, but when he checked the sender address and links, they were all Anthropic’s official domains.
Then, his KB Kookmin Bank debit card received two more “failed charge” SMS alerts in a row, showing that the US merchant “ANTHROP” was frantically trying to steal the money—before getting cut off by the bank due to exceeding the limit.
