According to Beating monitoring, Musk said in an internal memo that Tesla employees should switch to Grok whenever possible. The reason is that Grok 4.5 has lower token costs. He also asked engineers to email him directly to report issues.

This week, Tesla has just capped employees’ budgets for using other AI tools at $200 per person per week, while Grok is unrestricted. Over the past few months, Tesla has been testing Grok internally, and Andrew Milich, head of the SpaceXAI product, has also been assisting with troubleshooting.

Grok 4.5 was jointly released this week by SpaceXAI and Cursor, focusing on programming, engineering, and office tasks. The official price is $2 per million tokens for input and $6 for output.
