On July 3, the UK requested to join committees related to agricultural and food standards, carbon markets, and electricity markets following its departure from the EU. The European Commission emphasized that under current bilateral arrangements, the UK has no right to participate in these meetings, but it may consider allowing UK officials to attend certain expert-level meetings and express opinions. This disagreement is just one of many challenges in the process of rebuilding UK-EU relations, with both sides still struggling to finalize agreements in areas such as defense procurement and study abroad programs.
