Qatar Leads Talks With Iran, While Trump Is “Abnormally Quiet”

Golden Finance News reported that, according to Al Jazeera, neither the U.S. State Department nor the White House has made any comment on this round of purported talks that are currently underway, but this is not uncommon. During a period when tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated at one point to a peak of conflict, countries such as Qatar and Pakistan repeatedly proposed acting as mediators and made efforts to do so. Trump has long highly praised the role Qatar has played in these mediation efforts. However, to be frank, in the past 24 hours since Trump returned from attending the NATO summit in Turkey, he has made no statements on this particular topic. During this time, he only posted a single social media update, announcing that he will rename “Palm International Airport” to an airport named after his own name, which is indeed very unusual. Given the current developments, Trump’s silence appears especially extraordinary. (Jin Ten)
