Bank of America: Investors increase bets on the Bank of England raising rates, as the UK is sensitive to oil prices

Golden Finance reported on July 10 that after the United States and Iran’s latest round of tensions led to a rise in oil prices, investors this week increased their expectations for the Bank of England to raise rates in 2026. In a report, strategists at Bank of America said that the UK remains highly sensitive to global oil price shocks, causing investors to reprice their rate expectations. Data from the London Stock Exchange Group shows that the market currently reflects expectations of a total 27 basis point rate hike by the Bank of England this year, up from the 20 basis point expectation reflected a week earlier.
