Abstract generation in progress
CoinDesk update, Meta’s Chief Data Officer said that agent commerce is “the next layer of commerce,” and laid out Meta’s future vision in the CoinDesk Spotlight. He noted that agent commerce is not only a product category, but a necessity: “We believe this could be the next layer of commerce for our entire company.” Currently, Meta already has more than one million weekly active businesses using agent services, starting with almost none. He gave examples that agents can coordinate children’s birthday parties, handle low-risk logistics, and in the future can also manage supply-chain negotiations and cross-border business. Schultz believes stablecoins will be the payment layer for this vision, predicting there will be no physical wallets in the future and that digital payments will become mainstream. He also said that Meta has more than one million small businesses in Brazil and India conducting business activities on WhatsApp.
