CoinWorld news, citing a report from Israel’s public broadcasting company on the 10th: at the request of the United States, the Israeli government has ordered its military to temporarily hold off on “sensitive” military operations in southern Lebanon. The report said the directive will remain in effect until further notice, depending on developments in the US-Iran situation and on the progress of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. The report said the US has recently been busy confronting Iran militarily and fears that Israeli actions will cause the situation to escalate further. The report cited a source in an Israeli security department as saying that the Israeli military is currently maintaining restraint at the US’s request. It also said the Israeli military is expected to withdraw from two areas within its so-called “security zone” in southern Lebanon as early as next week. The troop withdrawal arrangement is part of a framework agreement reached by Israel and Lebanon in late June this year in Washington, D.C. At the same time, the two sides are expected to resume negotiations next week in Rome, the capital of Italy.

Next week’s Rome negotiations are crucial. Whether the troop withdrawal can be carried out smoothly depends on this one.

Did the June framework agreement finally land? Hope it doesn’t get delayed again.

This situation really is a domino effect—since the U.S.-Iran side hasn’t worked things out, the Lebanon side has to hold it in. In the game of geopolitics, smaller countries can only go by the big powers’ mood.
