You want to say that a Gate employee being sarcastic and weird can be understood as just individual behavior, but this kind of group mean-spirited remarks can only be a public-relations tactic. Even if you’re genuinely in the right, you wouldn’t fight a public opinion war like this. How is anyone supposed to empathize with your sarcasm, given how the bystanders are just watching?
