Metaplanet, JPYC Study Bitcoin-Backed Credit in Japan - Crypto Economy

Metaplanet said that it, Metaplanet Securities, JPYC and Progmat agreed to begin a joint study on digital credit using Bitcoin, stablecoins and security tokens. The initiative will examine instruments ranging from digital corporate bonds to other credit products, making Bitcoin-backed credit an exploratory capital-market project, not a launched product.

The collaboration combines Metaplanet’s Bitcoin-centered financial strategy, JPYC’s stablecoin settlement and distribution functions, Progmat’s security-token infrastructure and Metaplanet Securities’ structuring and distribution expertise. The companies will study product design, regulation, operational flows, investor protection, settlement, holder management and technical verification, with stablecoins and security tokens positioned as the bridge between conventional securities and on-chain settlement.

The next phase is to examine product design issues, the need for proof-of-concept initiatives and the possibility of future issuance. Metaplanet said no issuance timing, terms, yield, product details, distribution method or collaboration structure has been determined, and any specific structuring or distribution would require a separate announcement, leaving regulatory clearance and practical verification as the gating items.
