#PredictWorldCup🇪🇸vs🇧🇪
Spain vs Belgium: Can the Red Devils end 46 year drought? The second quarter-final sees arguably the most interesting game of the World Cup with Spain facing Belgium. The Spanish have been ridiculously good and held the World record for most consecutive clean sheets at a World Cup, six games.
Their defence is close to being impenetrable, but they have yet to click and I don’t believe the Spanish attack has reached their peak, and if young Yamal finds that extra gear the Spanish would become very formidable.
Belgium already proved they have what it takes when scoring and demolishing USA in their last outing – the Red Devils still possess a formidable attack, but to lose Onana could make things complicated. With an injury, balance always plays a big part in knockout football, against a well-drilled outfit such as Spain you will not get many chances, so taking your opportunities could be key. I have little to go on where historical record goes; Spain are on an undefeated streak of over 46 years against Belgium. But football has a strange tendency to turn a blind eye when you’re playing under pressure!
The smallest things can happen; one defensive lapse, an early goal or a penalty shootout and your expectations can be turned on its head, hence why I don’t rule out the underdogs in knockout football.
I expect to see the Spanish dominating possession trying to keep the pace and rhythm in this game under control while the Belgians will be compact and looking to hit on the counter-attack. If Spain get an early goal I think they will go on to manage the game very well, whereas if the Belgians strike first it may become the shock of the round. My Prediction: Spain 2-0 Belgium I can’t help but believe in the Spain defense, I still believe they have enough to manage the game and win this comfortably and that I could be witnessing another clean sheet.
Nevertheless, Belgium are a strong side and it should not be a walk in the park for the Spanish. Whichever team comes out victorious it should prove to be an interesting match with plenty of tactics involved and I’m very interested to see the outcome.
Let me know your prediction?
Will the impressive Spain run and defense continue, or can Belgium create one of the shocks of the World Cup by reaching the semi-final?
