Gold Finance News reported that on July 10, according to UBS Group’s July-issued “Memory Chip Monthly Report,” monthly sales revenue reached a record high of $74.6 billion, up 31.7% month-over-month. UBS said that as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow and negotiations for long-term supply agreements (LTA) are still underway, the memory chip market cycle is becoming “even stronger,” and the situation of structural supply shortage will last at least until mid-2028. Overall, UBS expects that total annual revenue for the memory chip industry in 2026 will reach $992 billion. By 2027, this figure is expected to nearly double to $1.76 trillion. The bank noted that the main driver of this growth is high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a DRAM specifically for AI accelerators (such as Nvidia GPUs). UBS forecasts that in 2026, demand for HBM will grow 90% year-over-year to about 33.1 billion Gb. It is expected that in 2027, demand will increase further by 77% to about 58.7 billion Gb. (Jin Shi)
