Today, GPT 5.6 has finally been officially released to the general public.

But when many friends try to use the experience, they find that they must use a US or other overseas region phone number to receive a verification code in order to complete the login—how should this be solved?
Right now, I can think of two options.
1️⃣ Use a SMS receiving platform, such as HeroSMS. Receiving a verification code usually costs about 1 to 2 yuan. The minimum single top-up is at least $2, but you may not be able to receive the verification codes reliably.
2️⃣ Register and activate a real US phone number—for example, Saily, which has been very popular recently. The monthly rental cost is only less than $1, and users in mainland China can also roam to receive verification codes.
Besides ChatGPT, you can also register for Telegram, WhatsApp, and other overseas apps with a Saily phone number—everything is very smooth.
I’d recommend the second option more. For friends who frequently use overseas apps or have cross-border business needs, having a real US phone number of your own is very necessary—one and done.
