Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Supports the development of industries such as AI chips and optoelectronics
Golden Finance News reported that on July 10, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Xiong Jijun, presided over a symposium in Beijing on July 8 regarding the handling of key proposals and recommendations in the fields of electronic information and digital and intelligent transformation. The meeting exchanged updates on the handling of relevant key proposals and recommendations concerning independent innovation in chips and algorithms, the development of optical-electronics industry clusters, and the digital and intelligent transformation of enterprises.
Luo Laijun, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and a full-time vice chairperson, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Responsible officials from the National People’s Congress Financial and Economic Affairs Committee and the Working Committee for Representatives in the Standing Committee, as well as from the CPPCC proposals committee, attended. Representatives included relevant National People’s Congress deputies, CPPCC members, group representatives, and officials from co-sponsoring departments such as the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Data Bureau.
The meeting emphasized the need to firmly seize opportunities presented by innovation and transformative changes in digital and intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence. It called for supporting the development of industries including artificial intelligence chips and optical electronics, and for adhering to coordinated advancement in the layout of hardware, software, standards, and patents to accelerate high-quality development of the electronic information industry. It also stressed treating the integration of informatization and industrialization as both a strategic task and a practical approach to advancing new-type industrialization—advancing in a unified manner the digital transformation of manufacturing, networked collaboration, and intelligent upgrading. Measures should be adapted to local conditions and tailored to specific enterprises, with classified guidance provided to companies to carry out digital and intelligent transformation, so as to accelerate the comprehensive, full-chain adoption and application of new-generation information technology.
