Cursor tests a general-purpose AI assistant, Sand, directly positioning itself against Claude Cowork.

According to Dongcha’s “Beating” monitoring, Cursor is expanding from AI programming into everyday office work. The Information, citing two people familiar with the matter, reported that Cursor is internally testing Sand. It is designed for non-developers and can respond to emails and text messages, organize spreadsheets, and also handle engineering tasks. Sand has been made available to employees for testing, but it has not yet been decided whether it will be officially released.
