NEAR Releases Mainnet Upgrade Version 2.13.0, Supporting Quantum-Resistant Signatures and Dynamic Resharding

Abstract generation in progress
According to Wu, former NEAR core developer Vadim tweeted that NEAR has released mainnet upgrade version 2.13.0. This version supports the NIST standard ML-DSA-65 quantum-resistant signature, making it the third protocol key type after ed25519 and secp256k1. It also supports dynamic resharding, allowing the network to automatically split high-load shards at epoch boundaries based on shard state size. The update also introduces Gas Keys (NEP-611), allowing access keys to have independent pre-funded gas balances and 1,024 parallel nonce channels, which can be combined with DelegateV2 meta transactions for gas sponsorship. In addition, contracts can assign deterministic yield IDs, and node state synchronization has switched to peer-to-peer mode.

Gas Keys is an interesting design, 1024 parallel nonce channels are much friendlier for high-frequency scenarios, DelegateV2 combined with Gas sponsorship is a hard requirement for new user onboarding
