A while ago, an old classmate I hadn't seen in 26 years wanted to meet me in person, and I said no. I explained that I have severe social anxiety now, so we should just video call instead.

I really do have some social anxiety these days — meeting face-to-face still feels awkward. Face-to-face interaction is actually a kind of forced socializing, not as free as a video call. The effect was pretty much the same anyway, just chatting off and on about old times and catching up.
