Golden Finance reported that currently, SpaceX's progress in deploying Starlink satellites has exceeded last year's record levels. According to launch data compiled by satellite tracking expert Jonathan McDowell, SpaceX sent 1,589 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit in the first half of 2026, compared to 1,489 satellites deployed in the same period in 2025. In 2025, SpaceX deployed a record 3,180 Starlink satellites. Since the start of the satellite constellation project, SpaceX has launched over 12,400 Starlink satellites, of which nearly 11,000 are still operating normally. To better understand these numbers, consider Amazon's still-nascent low Earth orbit (LEO) service, which has deployed only about 400 satellites over the past 15 months, while its planned satellite constellation totals 3,232 satellites.
