OpenAI launches workflow agent ChatGPT Work and merges Codex into ChatGPT.
According to Beating Insights monitoring, OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Work. This is a new Agent in ChatGPT, powered by Codex and GPT-5.6.
It does more than answer questions—it can take over entire workflows. Users set a goal, and it can read connected apps and files to generate documents, spreadsheets, slides, analysis reports, and web applications.
ChatGPT Work can connect to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars, CRM, and project management tools. Users can also use @ to specify an app, allowing it to extract context from within.
The desktop changes are even more significant. The Codex app will be folded into the new ChatGPT desktop app. The new desktop will offer Chat, Work, Codex, and a built-in browser at the same time.
ChatGPT Work is now available to Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users. Plus and Business users will be enabled in the coming days. On desktop, Chat, Work, and Codex are available for all plans, including free users.
