Jinshi reports that former U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Joey Hood said that U.S.-Iran diplomatic efforts have come to an end. Hood pointed out that Iran's attacks on merchant ships show a certain pattern, with at least two attacks targeting Qatari vessels or ships carrying Qatari crude oil and liquefied natural gas. He said: "Many of these attacks are not really aimed at the United States, but at Gulf countries." Hood noted that U.S. military bases in the Gulf region are mainly used for training and exercises, and the U.S. has few actual personnel or equipment deployed at these locations, with very few exposed. He said that these attacks by Iran are "a signal to Gulf countries, especially to mediators: in this conflict, you'd better side with us now."
