The Layer 2 network Mantle announced the official migration of its Super Portal to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), replacing LayerZero as its primary infrastructure provider. This strategic upgrade safeguards transfers of the native MNT token within an ecosystem valued at over $2.5 billion. According to organization spokespersons, the transition grants the platform direct control over its assets under the Cross-Chain Token standard.
This decision responds to a growing trend of institutional adoption demanding significantly more robust and decentralized security infrastructures following recent critical failures in the DeFi ecosystem. The integration of Chainlink CCIP not only mitigates operational risks for Mantle but also clears the path for an agile expansion of MNT across multiple external blockchain networks without compromising custody.
