On July 9, mainly trading gold & US stocks.

Initial capital 800u. Account balance on July 8: 1242u. Today's profit: 952u. Cumulative: 2194.

1. Gold rallied on Asian session with a strong bullish candle, indicating strong bulls. European session did not continue the Asian strength, ranging throughout the afternoon. Since the rise was excessive, I chose to look for a pullback short. Held for about two hours with no major move, exited with a small profit of 100u to wait.
2. Today most assets rose broadly, especially NAS100 which surged sharply during the day, up over 300 points before the US open. This suggested a high probability of a strong US open. Started building long positions around 9:20, adding on dips, waiting for the move.
Sure enough, NAS100 surged on the open, grabbing 500u and exiting at the high to wait for another long entry.
(The open was too strong — there had to be a pullback, but that doesn't stop the uptrend.)
3. After exiting the high, within 5 minutes NAS100 pulled back sharply. I then went long along the bottom resistance zone and the 200 MA, building positions on dips. The second rise was not a violent spike but a gradual uptrend. Held until the high resistance area, took profit of over 300u and exited.

Reflection: During range-bound periods, it's best to sit out — small moves and unclear direction can easily lead to getting stopped out both ways.
