#ParadigmRaises1.2BToBetOnAI

Paradigm’s $1.2B Fund Is a Signal Crypto and AI Are MergingParadigm’s new $1.2 billion fund means much more than another venture capital headline – it tells me some of the best-known crypto investors aren’t just betting on blockchain. In my view, branching into AI, robotics, and other frontier technology makes a lot of sense. I’ve long suspected that the most significant advancements in tech will not come from isolated silos, but where various technologies are integrated.

Crypto has its strengths in infrastructure and distribution; AI can bring intelligent automation; and robotics brings interaction with the real world.

It’s in the overlapping space where we will likely see truly new ways to build businesses. The important distinction is that Paradigm isn’t moving on from crypto. The fund appears to be building on it. Backing AI, robotics, and blockchain indicates the firm believes that these technologies will work in conjunction, reinforcing each other rather than competing for resources and mind share. We are all aware of the huge interest AI is already garnering in both Traditional and crypto markets this past 12 months… the race for AI has undoubtedly already begun.

We’re starting to see some extremely high demand for AI tokens right now, but I believe that’s likely to have a secondary effect: to further increase demand for the underlying tech – that’s where we could see crypto playing a key role - from secure underlying infrastructure to scalable platforms – that all come hand in hand with AI, blockchain, and robotics, robotics in general I see more and more now from some big firms moving their investments and attention into robotics space .

But of course, it’s a long game. Ventures investing is always volatile, and not every startup will even get off the ground, let alone go on to be one of tomorrow’s biggest businesses. However, the most successful venture investors always take bets on companies with world-changing potential – that are in it to “go all in” on transformational technologies.

Paradigm’s latest fund reinforces my belief that the boundaries between crypto, AI, robotics, and other leading technology areas will continue to blur every year. What we will be looking for this next year are the firms and entrepreneurs that identify how these sectors are merging. What is your opinion on which tech category will make the most progress over the next year: will we focus more on isolated blockchain projects or more on integrated blockchain and AI platforms?
