In 2006, the average hourly wage in the U.S. was $20; now it is $38.


In 2006, the S&P was around 1,300 points; now it is around 7,500 points.
Back then, it took 65 hours of work to buy one share of SPX.
Today, although the average hourly wage has nearly doubled, it takes nearly 200 hours of work to buy one share of SPX.
This shows that if you want to buy into the "American wealth-building dream," the entry barrier is higher, and it is drifting further away from ordinary people.
