A reporter learned from the Huaihe River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources that on July 6, the Huaihe River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Huaihe River Water Conservancy Commission launched a Level IV emergency response for flood control and a Level IV emergency response for flood defense. It is understood that, affected by the inverted trough of Typhoon No. 10 “Maysak” and its residual circulation, from July 6 to 7 the Huaihe River basin is expected to experience a round of heavy to torrential rainfall, with local extremely heavy rainfall. The basin’s average precipitation is expected to be 40 to 60 millimeters, including 30 to 50 millimeters in the Huaihe River water system, 70 to 90 millimeters in the Yishusu (Yi–Su) River water system, and 40 to 60 millimeters in the Shandong Peninsula. As a result, the main stream of the Huaihe River, the Yishusu River, and Luoma Lake will see a pronounced rise in water levels, and some medium and small rivers within the areas receiving heavy rain may experience floods exceeding warning levels. According to the “Emergency Plan for Flood Control and Drought Relief of the General Command for Flood Control and Drought Relief of the Huaihe River” and the “Emergency Plan for Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention of the Huaihe River Water Conservancy Commission,” at 12:00 on July 6, the Huaihe River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Huaihe River Water Conservancy Commission launched a Level IV emergency response for flood control and a Level IV emergency response for flood defense for the Huaihe River and its southern tributaries, the Yishusu River water system, and the Shandong Peninsula.
