EigenLayer is a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces restaking, a new economic security primitive. This primitive allows ETH to be reused at the consensus layer. Users can choose to restake their natively staked ETH or liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and selectively participate in EigenLayer smart contracts, thereby extending the economic security of their ETH or LSTs to other applications on the network and earning additional rewards.
