Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, sent a letter on the 8th to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council's rotating president for this month, Zenon Ngaye Mukongo, the Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, condemning in the "strongest terms" the repeated acts of aggression by the United States and its continued violations of the UN Charter and other norms of international law. The letter stated that the new round of aggressive acts by the United States flagrantly violates the relevant provisions of the UN Charter and constitutes a breach of the relevant provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The repeated and deliberate violations of its commitments by the United States mean a fundamental abandonment of this Memorandum of Understanding, and it must bear full international responsibility for all legal and political consequences arising from its illegal acts and the dangerous escalation of the situation. The letter said that the deliberate targeting of civilian facilities and the continued illegal use of force against Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity constitute a serious threat to international peace and security, further demonstrating that the United States completely disregards its obligations under international law. Given the seriousness of the situation, Iran reiterates the responsibilities entrusted to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council under the UN Charter, especially in cases involving acts of aggression and threats to international peace and security. Iran urgently calls on the Secretary-General and the Security Council to take immediate, effective, and decisive measures to force the United States to stop its ongoing illegal aggression and prevent further escalation of the situation.
