You don't know how impressive private enterprises in China are today. A friend of mine works for a power regulator company in Shanghai. One night, we were lying in bed chatting, and he mysteriously told me, "You have no idea who our products have been used for." He said that the most advanced naval vessels in China all use his power regulators, which are equivalent to the heart of the ship.

There was a general contractor who couldn't solve a power regulator issue, and through a friend's introduction, they found his company. His team brought the equipment, and the military had to blindfold them to take them into the control room. Each commissioning session took one day, and they only quoted 30k yuan.

He said the general contractor still wanted to undercut the price, but he replied, "If you don't pay, I won't do it anymore." The contractor got scared and immediately transferred the full amount. Although it wasn't a lot of money for him, he always told his engineers, "This is a national treasure—it has to be debugged properly."

He mentioned that now a major vessel is undergoing sea trials, and he's afraid that one day he'll get a call and have to leave immediately to fix a problem. Fortunately, nothing has gone wrong so far.

This is one of the most impressive private enterprises I've ever heard of. He said that in the field of high-end equipment, China's gap is actually quite large. They also use German and Korean technology. I've heard quite a few similar stories.
