Typhoon causes waterlogging in parts of Guangxi cities, zinc plant production unaffected for now

Affected by Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon this year, many areas in Guangxi have been hit by continuous heavy rainfall. In places including Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Guigang, and Nanning, downpours have escalated from heavy rain to torrential rain, with locally extreme downpours; this has led to severe urban waterlogging in some urban areas, as river water levels surged sharply, and multiple reservoirs have encountered safety risks. Based on SMM’s investigation of zinc smelters in Guangxi, production is not currently affected, but waterlogging at the ports is severe, and the transport of both raw materials and finished products has been obstructed. It is also reported that in July, some lead-zinc mines in Guangxi had already suspended production for maintenance due to the rainy season impact. (SMM)
