Seychelles Inflation Rate Accelerates

The annual inflation rate in Seychelles increased to 0.43% in June 2026, marking the highest level since September 2025, up from 0.29% in May. Fish prices rose 5.62%, reversing a 0.85% decline in the prior month while other food cost rose 0.09% following a 0.39% decline. Non-food prices rose 0.4%, unchanged from the previous month, with the largest increases recorded in alcoholic beverages (4.13%), restaurants and hotels (at 2.58%), transports (2.57%) and clothing and footwear (0.52%). In contrast, the largest decreases were recorded for recreation and culture (-3.31%), health (-2.5%), housing and utilities (-1.12%) and communication (-1.09%). Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes fresh fish and energy items, rose to 0.52% from 0.48%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.07% in June, easing from a 0.15% increase in May.
