I was sick for a week, and only after taking cold medicine for a week did I realize I had COVID. My mom and my little sister both looked after me, taking turns feeding me my medicine—turns out they gave me the wrong one. Like that “999 Cold Relief,” Pudilan anti-inflammatory tablets, and all kinds of oral liquids. I always felt like my cold got better more slowly than other people’s. Even when I was a kid, I grew up eating it that way. I just feel like I’m some kind of alchemy furnace.
