Affected by upstream water inflow, the water level of the Xijiang River continues to rise. The Guangdong Provincial Hydrology Bureau has issued its first red flood warning of the year.

At 8:00 a.m. today, the water level at the Xijiang Fengkai Jiangkou Station (Jiangkou Town, Fengkai County, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province) was 17.24 meters (warning level: 17.80 meters). Based on current rainfall and hydrological conditions, the water level is expected to rise to the warning level around midday today. On the morning of tomorrow (the 8th), it is expected to rise to about 22.0 meters, exceeding the crest elevation of the levee in the old town area of Jiangkou Street, Fengkai County. The water level will continue to rise thereafter.

In view of the current situation, the Guangdong Provincial Hydrology Bureau upgraded its response and, at 8:00 a.m. this morning, issued a red flood warning for the Fengkai section of the Xijiang River.

On the same day, the Guangxi Hydrology Center also reported and upgraded its issuance of a red flood warning. According to hydrological monitoring, as of 7:00 a.m. this morning, there were still 55 rivers and 70 stations in Guangxi—including the Yujiang River and its tributary Wusijiang, the Qianjiang River, the Xunjiang River, the Xijiang River, and the Fangcheng River—where levels exceeded warning thresholds by 0.01 to 7.46 meters.
