Abstract generation in progress

Meta (U.S.: META) has released a new generative AI image model called Muse Image. It is the first such model since Meta spent tens of billions of dollars rebuilding its AI lab a year ago and appointed Alexandr Wang as Chief AI Officer.

Muse Image went live on Tuesday on the Meta AI chatbot. It will be embedded in several of Meta’s social apps, including Instagram and WhatsApp. Users can use the model to generate images based on text prompts, and they can also ask it to edit existing images. Advertisers will soon be able to use the model to create marketing materials.

Users can also generate images featuring their friends or creators based on Instagram posts they share publicly. This is one of Meta’s efforts to enhance personalization on the platform. As for users who do not want others to “reuse or adapt” their content with AI, they can choose to turn it off in settings.

Meta said Muse Image is now available in the Meta AI app and on the meta.ai website, including Instagram Stories in the United States and WhatsApp in some countries, and it will soon roll out to Facebook.
