US President Donald Trump warned Iran that the United States is likely to launch further strikes on Wednesday night, following the previous day's attack.

Speaking to reporters before a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said: "Let me give you a little preview — tonight we will hit them hard."

Earlier, while commenting to reporters in Ankara, Trump said that the memorandum of understanding for a preliminary US-Iran ceasefire agreement had been scrapped.

However, he did not explicitly indicate that Washington would restart a full-scale war, and it remains unclear whether negotiations between the two sides to turn the ceasefire into a permanent agreement will continue. "I don't know if we'll reach a deal. We might just act without signing one."

Amid the escalation of hostilities that has sent oil prices sharply higher, Iran said it had struck US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait after American forces targeted Iranian positions in response to an attack on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

The renewed hostilities have also heightened security concerns around the Strait of Hormuz, with shipping data showing that at least four oil and gas carriers chose to turn back rather than attempt to pass through this critical supply route.
