Gate founder Dr. Han responds to rumored 'theft of 1.7 million' incident: let facts address the controversy
BlockBeats News, July 8 — In response to the widely circulated rumor about “Gate being hacked for 1.7 million,” the platform founder and CEO, Dr. Han, posted on X to reply: “The whole story is right here. After you read it, you’ll naturally understand.” For this incident, the official Gate account had already made a complete disclosure of the timeline and a review/recap earlier.
Earlier today, the official Gate announcement stated that the conclusion of the widely circulated “Gate being hacked for 1.7 million” rumor is: this is not a systemic risk and not a website security issue; the platform is currently ensuring the safety of customers’ assets and accounts across the entire site.
There are many疑 points about the incident. Previously, the user had completed facial liveness verification and provided three specified historical transaction records from 2019 as proof. The security items were reset using the verification code sent to the original email; all reset settings were confirmed to be correct after verification by the email verification code and the fund password. Before the user’s five withdrawals, Gate conducted comprehensive identity verification, including: facial liveness verification, Google verification code verification, and fund password verification. After confirming that all checks were passed, the user’s withdrawal request was approved. Afterwards, the user reported to Gate customer service that their account was hacked. Gate ensures that the above information is true and valid, and all disclosures in this release are sourced entirely from the platform’s complete backend retained operation data.
