[Samsung] Samsung Electronics begins mass production of solid-state drive PM1763 for Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform.

Samsung Electronics (Korea: 005930) has begun mass production of its most advanced data center storage device — the enterprise SSD PM1763, which will be used in NVIDIA's (US: NVDA) upcoming Vera Rubin platform.

The PM1763 was previously unveiled at NVIDIA's GTC conference. Samsung showcased it alongside next-generation high-bandwidth memory HBM4 and low-power module SOCAMM2 as part of an integrated solution designed specifically for AI data centers.

Samsung stated that this storage device uses the latest V-NAND flash memory chips and a newly developed 4nm controller, achieving read/write speeds more than double those of the previous generation. The PM1763 can reduce data latency for advanced processors and AI accelerators. Samsung noted that to maintain high-speed operation during AI training and inference, the drive is equipped with a liquid cooling system.

Samsung indicated that the PM1763 delivers industry-leading performance and has successfully completed validation on next-generation AI platforms, well supporting the evolving demands of AI infrastructure. As AI models continue to grow in scale and complexity, the PM1763 will serve as a key memory solution, helping to optimize memory capacity and enhance AI operations for customers.

According to TrendForce, Samsung commanded the largest share of the enterprise SSD market in the first quarter, at 35%. It was followed by SK Hynix (Korea: 000660), Micron (US: MU), Kioxia (Japan: 285A), and SanDisk (US: SNDK).
