【AI+META】Meta launches new AI image generation model Muse Image, integrated into Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.
Meta (US: META) has released a new generative AI image model, Muse Image. It is the first such model since Meta spent tens of billions of dollars rebuilding its AI lab a year ago and appointed Alexandr Wang as its Chief AI Officer.
Muse Image went live on Tuesday on the Meta AI chatbot. It will be embedded in several Meta social apps, including Instagram and WhatsApp. Users can use the model to generate images based on text prompts, and can also ask it to modify existing images. Advertisers will also soon be able to use the model to create marketing materials.
Users can also generate images featuring their friends’ or creators’ likenesses based on Instagram posts those people have made public—part of Meta’s efforts to enhance personalization on its platform. As for users who do not want others to “reuse or adapt” their content with AI, they can choose to turn it off in Settings.
Meta said that Muse Image is now available in the Meta AI app and on the meta.ai website, in Instagram Stories in the United States, and in WhatsApp in some countries, and will soon be available on Facebook.
